Vocal Coaching
All singers have different reasons for training the voice and have individual requirements from lessons. Providing safe vocal teaching, knowledge of vocal anatomy and technique, guidance in stylistics and direction in performance skills I aim to build your confidence in an encouraging atmosphere. With a career of nearly 3 decades I have many experiences to draw from and an array of pedagogical approaches.
Song Writing
Through a process of exploration and analysis I can assist you in improving existing songs, getting you started or getting you unstuck. I am not a songwriter but I spend a lot of my time analysing songs for artists and I know a lot of theory beyond what makes a good song. Covering aspects such as concepts and ideas, story telling, chord progressions, lyric writing, rhyme, pace and melody construction I can help you to hone your skills.
Estill Voice Training
Estill Voice Training uses science to teach voice. It puts the scientific theory into concrete practice to maximise voice control. With technical knowledge of how the voice production system operates the singer can gain isolated control of the moveable structures within the larynx and the vocal tract and shape the sound they wish to create. I have been teaching the Estill system to teachers and singers since I qualified as an Estill Master Teacher (EMT) in 2007.
Artist Development
To become a successful artist a singer is required to transform themselves into a commercial product. Their whole package needs to make sense. By delving into what makes you tick I aim to guide you towards the most authentic version of yourself tying together your musical style, vocal stylistics, identity, branding, image and visuals. We will focus on the creative side of artist development.
